Franklin River Tasmania
The Lyell Highway from Hobart to the west coast of Tasmania travels over the Franklin River, through the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, a World Heritage Area. Given the fame of the river, the reality was a little disappointing.
When it passes under the road bridge, the Franklin looks like a very ordinary little river. There is an interesting short board walk nearby, with a path down to the riverbank. This includes informative information signs from the parks authority, which seem to be more about ideology than information. Perhaps the longer "Franklin River Nature Trail" is better.
