Established in 1966, the ACS has over 15,000 members and on a per capita basis is one of the largest computer societies in the world.
ACS Canberra Branch conferences are small (less than 100 delegates),low cost (less than $100), accessible (on a Saturday), local events for IT practitioners in Canberra - but with top quality presenters. This year's conference will debunk the hype surrounding the "multimedia, hypermedia, InfoBahn, Information Superhighway". It will give practical case studies of the use of multimedia and the Internet.
There will be a papers on the application of traditional IT skills, including project management, quality assurance, testing and training to multimedia applications. The conference will include applications in Government agencies, with presentations by key figures in the Commonwealth Internet Reference Group. In addition the designers of the ACS's ACS-link World Wide Web service will give demonstrations and the background to this national project.
