Internet Reality Check

4 pm Thursday, 8th July 1999

Board Room, National Press Club, Canberra

Roger Evernden

Topic: New Dimensions For Modeling Information

Special Guest: Roger Evernden, Director, WorkSpace International Ltd, UK

Data mining and data warehouse technology can handle factual information using statistical or numerical analysis techniques. It is not as effective when handling complex information that depends on opinion, personal knowledge, experience, or the exploration of alternative mental models. The concept of information dimensions is proposed to manage analysis of this type of complex information and value-add to a data warehouse strategy.

Roger Evernden has more than 25 years' experience pioneering techniques for modelling information and using information management frameworks with international clients such as Barclays, Halifax, and IBM. He has lived in the UK, Australia, the USA, Ireland and Thailand, and has worked on information management inititatives in 26 countries. He is a founding director of WorkSpace International and WorkSpace Australia.

IRCs are free (but you have to buy your own drinks and one for the special guest) and open to anyone interested: just turn up. Internet Reality Check (not to be confused with Internet Relay Chat) is designed so that members of the 'net community can meet and exchange the small amount of very important information which is not suitable for digital transmission. ;-)

Roger will also be giving a presentation 2pm Thursday, 8th July 1999 at the Department of Defence in Canberra. Defence, Government and Industry personnel are welcome to attend. Bookings are required, by e-mail, to: tom.worthington@cbr.defence.gov.au
